What are the fruit and vegetable percentages?

The fruit and vegetable percentages express the amount of fruit or vegetable contained in a product. These metrics show the amount of fruit and/or vegetables that are consumed in the diet and what products contribute to total fruit and vegetable intake. Find out more about recommended intakes here.

What is the impact of fruit and vegetables?

Fruit and vegetables are an important aspect of a healthy and balanced diet. The high micronutrient content of fruits and vegetables mean there are significant health benefits to consuming fruit and vegetables. For example vitamin C contained in foods such as peppers, carrots and oranges is important to keep body tissues (e.g. skin and cartilage) healthy. See more information in the micronutrient articles.
