EAT NUTS. LIVE LONGER.

That’s the campaign we’ve just launched across the UK. And its true.

Simple. Bold. And yes, deliberately designed to provoke debate.

We have spent years talking about what people should eat less of… but far less time talking about what we should be eating more of. Poor diet is now the leading cause of preventable ill health and much of that risk is driven not by excess, but by deficiency. We’re simply not getting enough of the foods that protect our health.

Nuts are one of those foods.

The Power in a Handful

A small handful a day (around 25g) delivers fibre, healthy fats, plant protein and essential micronutrients. But more importantly, the impact goes far beyond nutrition labels.

Large international studies consistently show that people who regularly eat nuts have around a 20% lower risk of premature death.

That’s not a marginal gain. That’s meaningful, population-level impact from a simple daily habit.

Lets Talk About It!

At Whitworths, we’ve modelled what that could mean at scale.
👉 If everyone in the UK added a daily portion of nuts, we estimate it could help save up to 20,000 lives every year. That’s why we’re doing this.

Not just to launch a campaign, but to shift the conversation.

If you want to go deeper into the evidence behind this, we’ve published two papers which you can download and read on our website:

📄 Gaps to Gains – our latest work on how closing nutrient gaps could transform public health

📄 Nuts, Seeds & Dried Fruit White Paper – an independent paper exploring the role of these foods in reducing disease risk

This campaign isn’t about saying one food is the answer. It’s about making a bigger point:

What we’re not eating is causing as much harm as what we’re eating too much of.

So yes… challenge it.
Debate it.
Disagree with it.

But most importantly, let’s start talking about it.

Oh, and share it when you spot it!
