Whitworths SmartNutrition+ App: Intended Use Statement

The Whitworths application and the medical device software component is intended for populations with the following characteristics:

• Adults (16 years and over)
• Able to read and understand English
• Has access to the internet and a smartphone or tablet computer

The Whitworths application and the medical device software component is not intended to be used by populations with the following characteristics:

• Receiving palliative or end of life care
• Those with very complex care needs and/or not freely consuming usual foods (e.g. only on parenteral nutrition)
• Unable to make judgements about diet suggestions based on food preferences and allergens

The Whitworths application and the medical device software component has not been programmed to account for allergens (e.g. nuts or gluten) or some food preferences (e.g. Kosher diets). Use of the Whitworths application and the medical device software component should be undertaken with the knowledge that suggestions may not always be appropriate and dietary changes should be undertaken using judgement and under advice from a Healthcare Professional.
